Nashville's Next: Huntsville City shines in 5-0 victory over Chicago

Every week Nashville's Next recaps the weekend that was for the Nashville SC organization from the first team to Huntsville City FC, to the Nashville SC academy and the Nashville SC front office.

First Team: The Boys in Gold traveled to the West Coast, where they ultimately fell 3-0 to the Seattle Sounders. Homegrown center back Chris Applewhite made his Nashville SC and MLS debut, subbing onto the field in the 81st minute.

Nashville SC is back in action at GEODIS Park this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. CT against the Chicago Fire, where head coach BJ Callaghan will face off against former USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter for the first time since both coaches parted ways with the USMNT.

Huntsville City FC: The Boys in Blue put on a show at Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium on Sunday evening. Ethan O’Brien opened the scoring in the 20th minute before Kevin Carmichael and Gunnar Studenhofft added three more goals before halftime. Adem Sipić tacked on one more in second half stoppage time to round up the drubbing against Chicago Fire II.

Nashville SC Academy: The NSCU18 and NSCU16 recently competed in the Generation adidas Cup at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. The NSCU18 fell to Brazilian club Palmeiras 2-0 in the Premier bracket final. The full replay of that final can be found here.

Meanwhile, the NSCU16 fell to the LA Galaxy 2-0 in the Round of 16. The full replay is available here. The Galaxy went on to lose to Real Salt Lake in the final 4-0.
