For the first time in club history, Nashville SC will square off against a Premier League opponent when English side Aston Villa FC visits GEODIS Park for an international friendly on Saturday. While the Boys in Gold enjoy a break from MLS competition, the clash offers a unique opportunity to test themselves against one of Europe’s top clubs.

Nashville SC striker Sam Surridge, who played in the Premier League, is tied with Lionel Messi atop the MLS Golden Boot race with 18 goals. Since joining from Nottingham Forest in 2023, Surridge has broken multiple league and club records, including becoming the first English-born player in MLS history to score 10 goals over a six-match span.
Football Friends
Defender Andy Najar, who leads MLS in goal contributions among defenders, shares history with Aston Villa midfielders Leander Dendoncker and Youri Tielemans from their time together at Belgian side RSC Anderlecht. Najar scored against Premier League side Arsenal in the 2014 UEFA Champions League.

After Saturday’s international friendly, Nashville SC returns to MLS play with two straight road matches beginning at St. Louis CITY SC on Aug. 9.
